1874 United States 10 Cents Fractional Currency Note – Fifth Issue (BAN497-)

Obverse: Features a portrait of William M. Meredith, Secretary of the Treasury (1849–1850), on the left. To the right is an ornate design with the denomination "10 CENTS" surrounded by a decorative shield-like motif. A red Treasury Seal is displayed at the lower right. The words "UNITED STATES" appear prominently across the top, and "FRACTIONAL CURRENCY" is noted along the left margin.
Reverse: Printed in green ink, the reverse displays an intricate guilloche design with the text declaring the note redeemable in United States Notes by the Assistant Treasurers and designated depositaries. Surrounding the center are inscriptions "FRACTIONAL CURRENCY," "TEN CENTS," and "COLUMBIAN BANK NOTE CO. WASHINGTON D.C." along with corner denominations.
