Obverse: Portrait of Antonio José de Sucre, a prominent leader in the Latin American wars of independence, at right. National coat of arms of Bolivia at left. Lettering: “BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA” – “CINCUENTA PESOS BOLIVIANOS.” Serial number “U4119655” appears twice in red ink.
Reverse: Depicts the Puerta del Sol (Gateway of the Sun) at Tiwanaku, an important pre-Columbian archaeological site. Denomination “50” shown on both sides. Lettering: “BANCO CENTRAL DE BOLIVIA” – “CINCUENTA PESOS BOLIVIANOS.”
