Alessi - Lluís Clotet - Platter - Sarrià Round Basket - Steel

The Sarrià Round Basket, designed by Lluís Clotet for Alessi, is a sophisticated example of modern basketry reinterpreted through steel craftsmanship. Lluís Clotet, known for his architectural and industrial design work, brings a structural elegance to this platter/basket hybrid by utilizing steel, a material that provides strength and a sleek finish.

Baskets traditionally serve as storage or serving tools, but the use of steel elevates the typical wicker or fabric basket to a contemporary design artifact that fits minimalist or modern interiors. The name "Sarrià" hints at Mediterranean or Catalan influences, possibly reflecting regional aesthetics in its form or texture.

The round shape of the basket is a classic design choice promoting balance and functionality, making it perfect for holding fruits, bread, or decorative objects. Steel's reflective surface can interact interestingly with its surroundings, adding a metallic accent to tablescapes or display areas.

This piece fits within Alessi's mission to rethink everyday objects through innovative materials and designer collaborations, merging practicality with style and cultural references.
