A wide, shallow salad bowl hand-painted in Caldas da Rainha — the pink and blue garland running the full rim, made for the middle of the table.
The best salad bowls are the ones that look as good empty as full — which is a test most do not pass. This one does, because the garland was painted for its own sake long before anyone considered what would go inside.
