Campo del Cielo meteorite Iron meteorite - Height: 30 mm - Width: 20 mm - 25 g - (1)
Campo del Cielo meteorites are famed iron meteorites recovered from an extensive strewn field in Argentina, named after the phrase meaning 'Field of the Sky.' These iron meteorites are believed to have fallen approximately 4,000-5,000 years ago and have significant scientific and historical interest. Composed predominantly of iron and nickel, their dense metallic structure and unique Widmanstätten patterns (visible in polished sections) are characteristic features. Measuring approximately 30 mm in height and 20 mm in width with a weight of 25 grams, this specimen exemplifies the robust nature of these meteorites. Campo del Cielo fragments have long been used as tools by indigenous peoples and today are valued by collectors for their connection to cosmic events and planetary science.
