Casket - Likeurkist - Mahogany, Brass - Lockable / with key

A casket, often referred to as a likeurkist, is a small lockable wooden box traditionally used for storing valuables or personal items. Crafted from fine mahogany, this casket is enhanced with brass detailing, contributing both to its durability and decorative appeal. The inclusion of a lock and key secures the contents, reflecting the historic practice of safeguarding precious possessions. Mahogany is prized for its rich color and heaviness, making it a preferred choice for crafting quality furniture and storage boxes. Such caskets were commonly used in the 18th and 19th centuries and remain admired today for their aesthetic charm and practical design.
