De Porceleyne Fles, Delft - Wall plate - Delftware - Large wall plate - 38 cm

De Porceleyne Fles is a renowned Dutch manufacturer known for its fine Delftware, a distinctive style of blue and white pottery originating from Delft in the Netherlands. Delftware wall plates are highly collectible decorative items, often featuring traditional motifs such as floral patterns, landscapes, or Dutch historical scenes, all executed in characteristic cobalt blue on a white background. These large wall plates, like the 38 cm example, serve as both art and heritage pieces in home decor, reflecting centuries-old ceramic craftsmanship. The process involves coating earthenware with a tin glaze to imitate porcelain and then painting detailed designs by hand before firing, making each plate unique. Collectors appreciate Delftware for its cultural significance, craftsmanship, and classic European aesthetic.
