FEMME d'un COLON - ALBUM PHOTOS AFRIQUE 1920 FEMME d'un COLON en OUGANDA & CÔTE d'IVOIRE COLONIE française ETHNIES

This photo album presents a rare ethnographic glimpse into the life of a European colonial settler's wife in Africa during the 1920s, with a focus on Uganda and the Ivory Coast, both under French colonial rule at the time. Albums like this document personal and social aspects of colonial life, showing interactions with local ethnic groups and landscapes while reflecting the colonial context and its cultural dynamics. The presence of indigenous ethnicities alongside colonial families offers valuable visual information on traditional dress, customs, and environments before major decolonization movements. Such albums are significant for understanding the complexities of colonial history, cultural exchange, and the daily realities behind broader geopolitical narratives during the early twentieth century in Africa.
