Fender - Lap steel - - Lap steel guitar - North America

Fender lap steel guitars represent a distinctive category of stringed instruments designed to be played horizontally across the player's lap or on a stand. Originating in early 20th century America, lap steel guitars contribute characteristic sliding tones prominent in country, Hawaiian, and blues music. Unlike standard guitars, lap steels use a steel bar or slide to depress the strings, producing smooth glissandos and vibrato effects. Fender, known globally for its electric guitars and amplifiers, has produced lap steel models celebrated for their build quality, bright sound, and historical significance in the electric string instrument evolution. These instruments often feature single or multiple pickups and are prized by players for their expressive capabilities and vintage appeal.
