Henley-On-Thames

I was thrilled to have been commissioned by Henley Royal Regatta to produce the official 2023 Poster, which is available to buy through their website and at the event.

I wanted the artwork to look classic and timeless, to portray the grandeur and elegance which comes with Henley Royal Regatta. This prestigious, quintessentially English event is totally unique, where teams compete from around the World, in the most beautiful setting on the River Thames. So I wanted my artwork to celebrate these fine British qualities and the magnificence of this race, which makes Henley a very special place and event.

I have hopefully captured the essence of Henley with a weeping willow tree on the top right of the picture, giving a lovely serene English Summer quality which frames the picture nicely. The mint green deckchairs and elegantly dressed ladies, dapper gentlemen wearing an array of pastel coloured rowing club blazers and boaters, eagerly watching the race, all help to create the scene.

The iconic (and unique to Henley Royal Regatta) white posts and white stage markers are visible as you look up towards Temple Island, which is the famous landmark and the start of the race. Spectator boats are observing the races on the other side of the river with additional boats moored on the far bank. Two competing rowing boats are followed behind by the famous official race boat.

My Henley-On-Thames print and poster is now available to buy on my website
