Italy, Republic 500 Lire argento (15 monete)

This grouping of 15 Italian 500 Lire silver coins represents a significant segment of Italy’s modern numismatic history. The 500 Lire denomination in silver was frequently used for special commemorative coins in the post-World War II period and up to the late 20th century, featuring designs celebrating Italian heritage, art, and historic milestones. Silver content lends these coins intrinsic value, while the variety within such a set often illustrates the evolving artistry and themes chosen by the Italian mint. Collectors seek these coins for both their metal value and their role in telling Italy’s cultural and monetary story before transitioning to the euro currency.
