Sculpture, Figure - 23 cm - Cold painted bronze

Cold painted bronze sculptures are created by applying finely ground colored pigments mixed with a binder directly onto a bronze surface without firing or glazing. This technique was popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, especially among European and Asian artists, for adding realistic color effects to metal figures. A 23 cm figure crafted this way typically displays detailed modeling combined with subtle coloration to highlight textures and features. Such sculptures often depict human figures, animals, or mythological subjects, serving as decorative art pieces or collectibles. The cold painting technique requires delicate care, as the pigment layer can be vulnerable to wear, making well-preserved examples especially valuable for both their artistic and historic qualities.
