The Stilnovo ashtray is an example of mid-century modern design from an iconic Italian lighting and design company renowned for its sleek aesthetics and innovative use of materials. Stilnovo, active mostly in the 1950s and 60s, is known for its products that blend function with artistic expression, often incorporating plastics during a period when this material was becoming prominent in household items. An ashtray by Stilnovo would typically exhibit minimalist lines and a contemporary style, reflecting the post-war era's embrace of modernism. Plastic ashtrays from this period were popular as practical accessories in homes and public spaces, merging ease of use with design elegance.
