The Book of Numbers: Numerology, Lucky Numbers & the Hidden Meanings We Have Given Them

Numbers have always been more than a way to count.

Why does seven feel lucky? Why does thirteen make people hesitate? Why do certain numbers seem to follow us through birthdays, addresses, names, dates, dreams, and chance encounters?

In The Book of Numbers, Mara Fenton explores the long and curious history of numerology, lucky numbers, unlucky numbers, repeating numbers, symbolic patterns, and the meanings people have attached to numbers across time and cultures.

Part history and folklore, part practical reference, this richly browsable guide shows you how to calculate and interpret your own numbers while also asking the more interesting question: where did these meanings come from in the first place?

Inside, you’ll discover how to:

Sometimes a number is simply a number.

And sometimes it makes us look twice.
