The VEB Kunstglas Wasungen faceted vase is a fine example of mid-20th century European art glass, notable for its sophisticated Sommerso technique. Sommerso, originating in Murano but adopted widely, involves layering different colors of glass inside one another, creating a captivating depth effect. This 20.5 cm glass vase features precise faceted cuts that enhance its play of light and color, showing the high level of craftsmanship typical of VEB Kunstglas workshops in Wasungen, East Germany. Faceted glassware often reflects an intersection of artistic glass design and geometric influence popular in that era, valued both as functional objects and collectible art pieces. Such vases are prized for decorative use as well as for appreciation by collectors of historic European glass art traditions.
