Busch, Emil Rapid Aplanat No. 5 Serie D F8 Brass lens

The Emil Busch Rapid Aplanat No. 5 Serie D F8 is a brass photographic lens known for its historical significance and quality craftsmanship. Designed as an aplanatic lens, it minimizes spherical aberrations and provides sharp images with good contrast, important attributes in early photographic optics. Lenses like this were typically used on large-format or plate cameras during the late 19th to early 20th centuries, embodying the meticulous mechanical build and optical standards of the era. The brass barrel not only contributes to durability but also reflects the aesthetic and material choices before widespread use of modern alloys. Collectors and historians value such lenses for their role in the development of photographic technology and their tangible connection to the origins of professional photography.
