Byzantine Empire - Lot of 2 Pieces AE Folles - Various Types (No reserve price)
Two pieces of AE folles from the Byzantine Empire represent the common copper coinage circulating during this medieval period. Byzantine folles continued the Roman tradition of bronze coin use for everyday transactions but adopted Christian iconography and imperial designs. Folles varied in size and weight over time but remained important elements of the monetary system facilitating commerce, tax payments, and administrative functions. These coins offer valuable insights into Byzantine economic history, artistic style, and the symbolic language of power during an era bridging classical antiquity and the Middle Ages.
