The Fang people, primarily residing in Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and southern Cameroon, are known for their influential artistic traditions, particularly their wooden masks and figures. Fang art often features stylized human forms with elongated faces and serene expressions, used in rituals related to ancestor worship and initiation rites. Their sculptures serve spiritual functions, protecting communities and mediating between the living and the ancestral world. Fang artistry has had significant influence on modern artists and is highly valued in collections worldwide. Their works embody a blend of spiritual significance, aesthetic refinement, and cultural identity distinctive to Central African art.
