Folding screen - Polychrome painted

A folding screen is a versatile piece of furniture traditionally used to divide interior spaces or provide privacy while adding a decorative element to a room. This particular folding screen is notable for being polychrome painted, meaning it features multiple colors applied in a painted design. Polychrome decoration can include intricate patterns, scenes, or motifs that enhance the artistic appeal of the screen. Historically, folding screens originated in East Asia and became popular in European interiors for both utility and ornamentation. Such screens are often made of wood or canvas panels connected by hinges, allowing them to be folded and repositioned easily. A polychrome painted folding screen serves not only as a functional room divider but also as a statement piece, reflecting artistic trends and cultural influences depending on its style and era. Collectors and interior decorators appreciate these screens for their craftsmanship and the visual interest they bring to a space.
