Mirror - Gilt wood

Gilt wood mirrors are decorative wall pieces where the mirror frame is made of carved wood covered with a thin layer of gold leaf or gold paint, known as gilding. This technique has been popular since the Renaissance, adding a luxurious and elegant touch to interior decor. The golden frame reflects light and complements various styles, from ornate Baroque to simpler Regency designs. Mirrors with gilt wood frames serve both practical and aesthetic functions, enhancing room brightness and depth while acting as a focal point or accent. The craftsmanship involves skilled wood carving and meticulous application of gilding, making these mirrors prized antiques and collector’s items.
