Orivit - Jardinière - Silverplated

This silverplated jardinière by Orivit exemplifies the refined decorative arts of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Jardinières are ornamental containers designed to hold plants and flowers indoors, often used as elegant centerpieces or mantle decorations. Silver plating adds a reflective, luxurious finish while being more affordable than solid silver, a common practice for decorative objects to deliver aesthetic appeal. Orivit, a renowned German manufacturer established in the late 1800s, became famous for its high-quality metal wares including tableware and decorative items featuring intricate designs and fine finishes. The style and craftsmanship of silverplated jardinières can vary widely, often reflecting historic influences from Rococo to Art Nouveau. Collectors value such pieces for their historic merit and the artistry involved in metalwork and electroplating techniques.
