Roman Empire. Domitian (AD 81-96). Quadrans (No reserve price)
The Quadrans was a low-denomination Roman bronze coin first introduced in the Republic and continued into the Empire, used primarily for small everyday transactions. Under Emperor Domitian (AD 81–96), such coins continued to be minted reflecting the ongoing need for bronze currency alongside silver coins like the denarius. Domitian's reign was notable for autocratic rule and extensive building projects. Quadrantes often featured simple imagery or imperial symbols to propagate the emperor’s message to all social classes. Due to their bronze composition and lower value, surviving quadrantes offer a tangible connection to the daily life and economy of ordinary Romans during the imperial period.
