Wifredo Lam (1902-1982) - Dessin offert à Adam Biro
Wifredo Lam (1902–1982) was a Cuban artist renowned for blending Afro-Cuban culture with Surrealism and Cubism, creating deeply symbolic and innovative works. His drawing 'Dessin offert à Adam Biro' suggests a personal or commemorative piece, possibly gifted to the publisher and art dealer Adam Biro. Lam’s art frequently features hybrid human-animal figures, vibrant motifs, and an exploration of identity and spirituality rooted in his cultural heritage. His influence extends across modern art, bridging European avant-garde movements with Caribbean cultural narratives, and reflecting complex dialogues about race, history, and mythology.
