WMF / Geislingen - Coffee and tea service (3) - Silverplated - Coffee service: 3-piece

The WMF / Geislingen coffee and tea service, silverplated and comprising three pieces, exemplifies classic European tableware design from a prominent German manufacturer. WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), based in Geislingen, has a long tradition of producing high-quality metal household items, especially silverplated services. Silverplated coffee and tea sets typically include essential components such as a coffee pot, a teapot, and a sugar bowl or creamer, crafted to complement each other stylistically and functionally. The use of silver plating over a base metal provides the visual appeal and luster of silver at a more accessible price point, offering enhanced durability and ease of maintenance compared to solid silver. Such sets played an important role in European social rituals around coffee and tea from the late 19th to mid-20th century, embodying refinement and hospitality. They often feature elegant lines, artful handles, and polished surfaces that reflect the era's aesthetic trends. WMF pieces are valued both for their craftsmanship and their historical significance in domestic and social dining contexts.
