Icon - Extended Deesis - Brass
This brass icon features the Extended Deesis, a traditional motif in Byzantine and Eastern Orthodox religious art. The Deesis is a representation of Christ enthroned, flanked by the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist, commonly depicted in a pleading or interceding posture on behalf of humanity. Brass icons carry a distinctive golden hue, which adds symbolic warmth and richness, enhancing the devotional impact of the representation. The Extended Deesis is revered both for its theological meaning and its artistic expression, often used in liturgical settings and personal devotion.
