Nikon AI Nikkor 1,4/50mm | Prime lens

The Nikon AI Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 is a classic prime lens renowned for its fast aperture and excellent optical performance. As a prime lens, it offers a fixed focal length of 50mm, which closely replicates the natural human field of view, making it extremely versatile for everyday photography including portraits, street photography, and low-light situations. The "AI" designation indicates that it features Nikon's Automatic Indexing system, allowing the lens to communicate aperture information to compatible Nikon cameras, improving exposure accuracy. With a bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens excels in creating images with a shallow depth of field and beautiful background blur, also known as bokeh. Its optical design typically includes several elements arranged to minimize distortions and aberrations, thus delivering sharp, contrast-rich images. The build quality is robust, common to many Nikon lenses from its era, often featuring a smooth manual focus ring that provides precise control over focusing. Collectors and photography enthusiasts appreciate this lens for its combination of classic optical characteristics and compatibility with Nikon's manual and some digital cameras.
