Nikon Ai Nikkor 1,4/50mm [#1389] Camera lens

The Nikon Ai Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 is a classic manual focus prime lens known for its bright aperture and excellent image quality. The “Ai” designation refers to Nikon's 'Automatic Indexing' system introduced in the 1970s, allowing the camera to read the lens’s aperture setting for accurate exposure metering. With a standard focal length of 50mm, this lens closely approximates the human eye’s field of view, making it a versatile choice for everyday photography such as portraits, street scenes, and general use. Its large maximum aperture of f/1.4 allows for superior low-light performance and shallow depth of field, enabling photographers to create images with beautiful background blur (bokeh). Physically, Ai Nikkor lenses feature manual aperture rings and focus rings, offering tactile control favored by photography purists and those using Nikon's film or manual-focus cameras. The lens is built with high-quality optics that produce sharp, high-contrast images, making it a prized lens for collectors, vintage camera enthusiasts, and photographers who appreciate manual control and classic lens rendering.
