Nikon Nikkor-O 1:4 f=2.1cm No. 223822 with viewfinder; cleaned inside the lens in September 2026 A Rare Camera lens

The Nikon Nikkor-O 1:4 f=2.1cm is an extremely rare and specialized camera lens notable for its unusually short focal length of just 21mm. This ultra-wide-angle lens was designed for Nikon rangefinder cameras and stands out for its unique optical construction and compact size. It is often accompanied by a dedicated viewfinder to assist with composition, given the challenges of framing with such an expansive angle. The f/4 aperture indicates moderate light-gathering ability, common for wide lenses of its era. Lenses like this are prized by collectors and photographers interested in vintage optical design, as they can capture expansive scenes with distinctive distortion characteristics prized in architectural, landscape, and creative photography. The mention of cleaning the lens interior suggests ongoing care to maintain optical clarity, which is crucial for preserving image quality and value in collectible lenses. Such items hold significant interest both historically and in specialized photographic applications.
